Iceland Golden Circle photos

The Golden Circle is a popular day tour for tourists in Iceland and also a popular Sunday drive for Icelanders. These are the main sites visited on the tour:

The Geysir geothermal area. Here is the geyser Strokkur ("The Churn") spouting.

Gullfoss, the golden waterfall. According to legend, there is supposed to be a chest full of gold behind the main waterfall.

Þingvellir. This is a national park and has a special place in the hearts of all Icelanders, as it is the place where Parliament met for hundreds of years and where the the founding of the republic of Iceland was declared in 1944.

Of the best sights on the tour, only the lovely lava crater Kerið is missing.
