Gorton Castle

Named after a previous owner of the building site, this grand Neo-Gothic building, finished in the early 1900's, once housed the Civil Secretariat of the Imperial Government of India, and is now the headquarters of the Accountant General of Himachal Pradesh. It is closed to the public, but I was fortunate enough be able to see it from the inside, due to my friend's connections. It has not been kept in as good repair as suits such a grand building, and has gone rather shabby. I loved the seamless marriage of architectural styles in the building, especially the Rajastani touches on the balconies.

Þarna er skrifstofa fjármálastjóra ríkisins staðsett. Húsið er kennt við mann sem eitt sinn átti byggingarlóðina. Vinkona mín vinnur þarna og ég fékk því að skoða húsið að innan líka. Það er orðið frekar slitið, en ekki svo að ekki væri hægt að veita því góða andlitslyftingu.
