Casualty of the snow

A pedestrian crossing sign in the city centre lies half-buried in a pile of dirty snow/ice, probably pushed down by a passing snow-plow, or possibly hit by a driver blinded by wind-blown snow. Reykjavík has been under snow for the last couple of weeks, with all the attendant problems: cars stuck in snow-drifts, pedestrians falling on ice and hurting themselves, tons of corrosive salt poured on the streets in an attempt to reduce the ice. To add insult to injury, it rained a couple of days ago, but only just enough to get all the snow thoroughly soaked before it froze again.
